NEW INITIATIVES TAKEN BY MANAGING COMMITTEE OF SRI RAMA SEVA MANDALI ®

The management committee has undertaken many developmental activities even during the Covid – 20 pandemic lock down period .Some of the main works undertaken during the last 2 months are detailed below.

1.REPAIR OF THE CHARIOT HOUSE WHICH WAS DUE FOR A LONG PERIOD:

The shutter of the chariot house was worn out and could not be properly locked. It would take lot of effort to bring it down and open. This affected the chariot kept there and it was also open for being stolen.

The old shutter of the car house was replaced with a new shutter and the flooring of the car house was also laid out with a new reinforced concrete flooring.

2. FLOORING AND GRILL GATE OF CHOULTRY:

The flooring in the area leading to the choultry steps had become damaged and accordingly the flooring was newly laid out with a layer of concrete and the old grill gate was replaced with a new and sturdy grill gate. The side gate was also repaired. Thereby all the long pending repair works of choultry was completed.

3. PREVENTING FLOODING IN TEMPLE PREMISES:

When there was heavy rains, the temple premises used to be flooded with sanitary water, causing lots of hardship to main temple and the water used to come up to kitchen. The flooding was avoided by constructing a storm water drain inside the temple and by using heavy diameter pipe, the water was diverted outside the temple premises there by avoiding flooding.

4. THE TEMPLE GOPURA PAINTING:

The management of the temple has decided to undertake painting of Raja gopura and three gopuras on top of Garbha gudi. The painting had faded and some of the figure of gods and goddesses needed repair.

The management decided to take up the painting of the gopuras since it was more than twenty years when they were last painted.

The work is expected to take around 75 days time and the cost of painting is estimated at Rs.7,00,000/-.

After painting work is complete, Kumbabhisheka for all gopuras has to be done as per procedure.

5. SIDE WALL AND SHUTTER PAINTING:

In order to beautify the temple and to bring in a sense of divinity among the devotees the management decided to paint the side walls of the temple were huge walls are available with important events from our epics accordingly the management decided to get the shutter of the chariot house paint figure of Rama and on the side walls on the southern side of the temple figures of Parvathi Kalyana, Lord Dattatreya and episode from Ramayan depicting Lord Rama and Seetha along with golden deer. The paintings were well appreciated by general public and devotees lighting also provided in order to view the painting in the night also the painting has transformed entire area.   

6.WASTE DISPOSAL ROOM:

In the waste disposal room, facing main road, the door had corroded and there was no scope for segregation of dry and wet waste. Corporation authorities were regularly complaining, and the waste would flow into the footpath, causing inconvenience to the general public. Taking into account the requirements, the doors were repaired and facility for storage of dry and wet waste was also provided.

7. TOILETS REPAIR:

Upon the request of devotees and users of the choultry ,western style commode, one each in ground and first floor of the temple premises is being constructed. This will help senior citizens who were regularly visiting the temple and choultry and were finding it difficult to use Indian style commodes. By this measure, the toilets will be provided with a modern western style commode along with faucet.

8. Garba Gudi Brass Plating

The management has found sponsors to brass plate the front facia of the three garbha gudis. The job worker has been identified by the sponsors and work has been entrusted to them.

  2. You are doing a commendable work,which was lacking all these years. Kudos to your team and leadership of Sri Sridhar. Continue doing the same. I will contribute to the extent of my economic means. I have one suggestion. Please explore the possibility of sound proofing the auditorium so that serious cutcheries can be held without the interference of the out side traffic. I still remember the great stalwarts of karnatik music used to sing during Ramanavami in the temporary mantal that were built in those times. We should try to bring back that glory to Ramamandir.

  3. You are doing commendable job. Kudos to your team and leadership of Sri Sridhar. Continue doing the good job. I have a suggestion to make. Please explore if there is a possibility of soundproofing of the auditorium. I remember in 60’s stallwarts of Carnatic music used to perform cutchery during Ramnavami. By soundproofing the auditorium trafic noise can be blocked and serious cutchery can be held and bring back those golden era of Ramamandir
